is this a good topic for a persuasive speech?


Why Jersey Shore should be cancelled.

I have 3 good reasons, it is starting stereotypes, it is promoting an unhealthy lifestyle, and it is a bad influence, but is that a good topic for a persuasive speech?

I've already finished it, but I just don't know, would it work for a persuasive speech?

I present on Friday, and I am in grade 9, so people will understand what I am talking about...

Do you think it is a good topic?

AndrewB 		I think it is a very good topic, and something that high schoolers can relate to. It will work as a persuasive speech if you take examples from the show, connect them to the real world, and show how they are bad influences. Good luck, and I believe that if you do it right you'll have one of the more interesting presentations in your class :)

nbrown 		yest it a good persuasive speech. The thing in a speech class is can you present the material clearly and effectively. You can make stuff up as you give your speech. The only thing that matter is your presentation.

nThomas 		It's fine, but the third part of your argument is weak. It fits too well within the other two. Maybe you could be more specific -- "Young people who love the show are too willing to embrace the....." or something like that, maybe.

mgraham 		Yes, it can be used as a persuasive speech but why are you singling out one show? Half the shows ON television nowadays are a bad influence and promote unhealthy lifetyles. Even the commercials do that. Should we ban them too?
I'm not saying I'm pro-jersey shore. In fact, I hate it just as you do. But you have to look at it from several angles in order to be successfully persuasive.
