What are some very interesting topics to do an issue speech on?


I'm taking a class at the local community college it's call fundamentals of oral communication. The class teaches you to be confident in your public speaking ability, and to be able to effectively communicate with others. We have an Issues Speech (a speech that talks about an issue of any scale on any subject. i.e gay marriage, marijuana legalization, abortion etc.) coming up next week and I'm stuck on brainstorming the topic of my issue speech, any ideas. I'm not looking for common topics like the ones stated above. Any useful suggestions are very appreciated. Thanks.

AndrewB 		Just choose a topic you both really care about and are very educated on. Then come up with a way to present it that is very influential by appealing to as many of the five senses as possible. I guess I can't really answer your question because I don't know which topic(s) you are most passionate about.

dmichaels 		The best speeches come from your heart. Create a speech about something you are passionate about and on a subject that interests you. This way, if during your speech you forget parts of it, you may have some background info to pick up and run with. Also, if you have to give a speech about something you don't know about or hate, it could prove difficult to make it sound good and confident. If you write something that you are emotionally invested in, it becomes much easier.

Then, go on to state whether it was the Bill of Rights or Constitution that guaranteed that right. http://www.priestsforlife.org has tons of information, too.
