Powerpoint 2010 split screen data view not working

Recently upgraded to ppt 2010 from 2007. When editing charts, the screen doesn't split and show the smaller ppt on the left, with the excel data on the right. Does anyone know if this is something that can be toggled on/off? Could it be my dual monitor configuration?

I am not quite sure what you are looking for, but I searched the internet and found a question answer on Microsoft's website. Maybe this might help you.

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2007-powerpoint/i-want-to-run-2-ppts-at-the-same-time-with-split/fc7a8d0a-1b79-4ca0-9849-aceb0538ab9d

Additionally, you can take some screen shots and upload them here, so we can see exactly what help you need with PowerPoint 2010.

Thanks, but not quite what I am attempting to do... my issuse is more based on the side-by-side view of ppt with the linked excel data, that should open up when editing a chart.
Basically, I am trying to edit charts (fairly simple process), but when I right click the graph, and say "edit data" the linked excel sheet opens in a completely new window, covering ppt and my graph. In ppt 2007, the excel sheet used to open side-by-side with my ppt, so that you can see both ppt and excel on the same screen.

Now, when performing a task, such as removing rows from a graph, and then needing to "select data" from the design tab in powerpoint, the process acts like it is running 2 separate programs (ppt and excel), rather than having both open at the same time, and seemingly more linked.
