How do you play music across ONE slide in powerpoint 2010?

I know how to play music across all the slides, but i don't know how to play it across one. And when I try to trim the audio, it won't work when i say "play across slides." i know it sounds confusing, but still.
okay, what i meant about the audio trimming thing was that even though i trimmed the audio, the music wasn't any shorter.

thanks! any help is appreciated and i have to turn this in by tomorrow, so hurry please!!

Make sure you're on the slide you want, then go to Insert > Movies and Sounds > Sound from File. Then choose the sound file. Next, click "Automatically", then go to Slide Show > Custom Animation. Click the drop-down menu and choose "Effect Options", then go to the "Effect" tab and under "Stop playing" choose "After:", then type "1".

Highlight 'insert', then highlight sound, then sound from file/clip art. Then move the sound icon off the slide, voila :)

To play the audio across just one slide, insert the audio on the slide you want it to play (Insert > Audio). Ensure the audio clip is selected on the slide and choose the Animations tab. Select the "More arrow" to expand the Animation area. The Play Audio dialog box will appear. From the Stop Playing area, select After Current Slide.

The Audio not trimming correctly is actually not you, it's just a bug in the software. Here's how to fix it: In PowerPoint, select File > Info. From the Media Size and Performance area, click the Compress Media button. Choose one of the three settings to compress the media (Presentation Quality should work fine).
