Why do they call it "OpenOffice"?


It's as if they're implying that other software (namely, the Microsoft Office Suite) is "closed", and therefore limited in its capabilities. On the contrary, I find Microsoft's software to be much more fully-featured, attractive, and easier to use. Is there no place for Microsoft Office anymore?

Nick124 		Of course there is a place for Microsoft Office. Larger companies use it because there is a much more extensive user base and opportunities for support. The free alternative is named "OpenOffice" because it's "open" to free, public use and customization. It belongs to the people.
